The City of Lancaster and Local Car Clubs Come Together for a Common Cause

The Children’s Center of the Antelope Valley was recently the recipient of a generous donation from a collaboration of local car clubs, a connection which the City of Lancaster was instrumental in forming. At the City’s 2019 California Poppy Festival™, in the spirit of the festival’s “Always Something New” approach, the City of Lancaster collaborated with local car clubs to introduce a new attraction: the inaugural Modern Muscle versus Import Car Show. This car show was the first time import and modern muscle car clubs partnered with the City of Lancaster for an event. The local car clubs that participated in the creation of this attraction were Team Blessed, Ruthless Squad, West Coast Elites, and Above Sport. With assistance from local decal shop Fresh Upgrade, which created a custom vinyl decal for participating cars, the clubs “revved up” awareness throughout the car community. The City also invited the public to join in, generating additional interest in the clubs’ passion for automobiles.

The car clubs collected an entry fee and raised $1,000, which they chose to donate to a local children’s charity – The Children’s Center of the Antelope Valley. Founded in 1988 by a group of doctors and community leaders, the Children’s Center of the Antelope Valley is a private, non-profit healthcare organization located in northern Los Angeles County that provides a continuum of services to child victims of abuse, children at risk of abuse, and their families. The Center offers innovative, comprehensive prevention, intervention, and treatment services and is the coordinating agency of multiple community partnerships involving both public and private agencies. The Children’s Center staff expressed their appreciation for the contribution. “The Children's Center of the Antelope Valley is extremely grateful for the generous donation from this collaboration of organizations. We are honored to be part of a supportive community and appreciate your commitment to enriching the lives of local children and teens. Thanks to your donation, CCAV is able to sponsor a graduating client who is unable to afford the required fees to play football on his high school team. Extra-curricular activities are an essential outlet for children affected by trauma, and we are thrilled to be able to provide him this opportunity for growth and social connectivity.
