Human trafficking crackdown hits home

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department and other county departments mobilized recently as part of a three-day statewide enforcement sweep called Operation Reclaim and Rebuild.

The mission: to rescue victims of human trafficking and arrest the pimps and johns who exploit them. This video photo gallery captures some key moments in the operation as it unfolded. The effort resulted in 510 arrests statewide, including 178 for solicitation and 30 for pimping.

In addition, 56 women and girls were rescued and referred to supportive services. The multi-agency mobilization, including online stings and street-level undercover work in areas from Palmdale to Compton, brought Human Trafficking Awareness Month to a powerful close
