City of Lancaster Announces New Assistant to the City Manager, Toi Chisom


Earlier this month, the City of Lancaster welcomed Toi Chisom as the City’s new Assistant to the City Manager. This integral position, which provides significant professional assistance to the City Manager’s Office, is responsible for the analysis, development, start-up, and operational transition of new City programs and initiatives, as well as the cultivation of private sector opportunities and partnerships. Chisom comes to Lancaster after most recently serving as the Recreation and Community Services Manager for the City of Santa Clarita, where she was responsible for all functions, operations, and services of the city’s Recreation Division -- which came with the responsibility of managing a $7.5 million annual budget, as well as serving as the Acting Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services. “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Toi Chisom to our City’s leadership team,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Ms. Chisom brings a wealth of municipal experience with her, and we know she will be a valuable asset to the City of Lancaster.” Chisom worked for the City of Santa Clarita for more than 14 years, where she operated in multiple management-level capacities and spearheaded a number of high-profile projects. No stranger to administration, Chisom also worked in the City Manager’s Office while at the City of Santa Clarita, representing the City Manager and Assistant City Manager on numerous projects, including a number of citywide issues and initiatives. Chisom holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Political Science from California State University, Northridge and earned her master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach. “I am honored and excited to join the City of Lancaster team,” said Chisom. “I look forward to working together with Council and staff to successfully serve Lancaster residents and further the vision of the City
