Sandy Corrales announced her candidacy to run for Palmdale City Council District 4

Sandy Corrales announced her candidacy to run for Palmdale City Council District 4 for the November 8, 2016 elections this morning at Domenic Massari Park, surrounded by friends and supporters who have honored her residency and advocacy for the past 28 years.

Corrales is a former Palmdale Planning Commissioner, and has served as President of the Palmdale and AV Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. She served on the Palmdale School Board for 12 years.

Corrale's campaign will focus on public safety, jobs, economic development on the eastside and an increase in quality of life. Some of her staunchest supporters include Mayor Jim Ledford, Councilmembers Fred Thompson and Roxana Martinez, former Mayor Pro Tem Joe Davies, to name a few.

When is the City’s next election?

The City’s General Municipal Election is the First Tuesday following the First Monday in November of even-numbered years.

The City’s next General Municipal Election is Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Polls open 7:00 a.m., close 8:00 p.m.

How are the Mayor and City Councilmembers elected?

The Office of the Mayor of the City shall be an elective office which shall have a term of two (2) years. The Mayor shall be elected by a city-wide election.

Starting with the November 8, 2016 General Municipal Election, City Councilmembers will no longer be elected on a city-wide basis. Councilmembers shall be elected by four (4) geographic districts.

Registered Voters will vote for one (1) Councilmember to represent their district. Council candidates must reside in the district they are seeking to serve.

For the November 8, 2016 General Municipal Election ONLY, City Council Districts will have staggered terms as indicated on the table below.

After the November 8, 2016 election, all Council District seats will have four (4) year terms.
