You are invited to join, in a Community Clean Up

Lake Los Angeles – County-wide through Parks & Recreation, thirteen Parks are taking part in a Community Clean Up on April 23, 2022. Here at home, you are invited to join the OUR SPOT group at Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles.

As a history note, Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles’s OUR SPOT group was taught organizational skills for an event by iHeart Lake L A. They absorbed the information, worked together on their own choice of project which became a community clean up at their park and put on a community clean up like no other. The success of their community clean up on July 23, 2021, sparked an organized and continuing program for OUR SPOT. In spite of Covid and the unrelenting heat, the cleanup was a roaring success and set the tone for future cleanup projects. This communitywide OUR SPOT cleanup was organized by Stephen Sorensen OUR SPOT teens with the guidance of the Strength Based Community Change (SBCC) Neighborhood Action Council (NAC). Cleanup kits were provided, water and snacks were available and hot dogs were served when the cleanup ended. iHeart groups from Harbor City, Hawthorne, Wilmington, Watts, South LA, Compton and Long Beach along with other volunteers traveled many miles to help clean up this mess together. It was amazing.

And now, it is back!

The cleanup starts at 10:00am and will conclude at 1:00pm. Cleanup kits will be provided to participants. You are invited to join and enjoy a day at the park.
