When does a camera see like a detective?

Lake Los Angeles – At the monthly WATCH meeting in Lake Los Angeles on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the topic of the camera system, the first camera that sees like a detective was discussed. All WATCH attendees agreed that LLA should and could make good use of these cameras.

Statistics show 7 out of 10 crimes are committed with the use of a vehicle. Capturing the vehicle details LEO needs to track leads and what do you have? A solved crime.

Flock Safety’s patented Vehicle Fingerprint™ technology lets LEO search by vehicle make, color, type, license plate, state of the license plate, missing plate, covered plate, paper plate, and unique vehicle details like roof racks, bumper stickers, and more.

The FLOCK system cameras are in the AV cities but not in our community. Considering how much traffic LLA gets going through on 170th and O, north and south, east and west, day and night, and as stolen vehicles are being abandoned in the desert, torched, etc., the FLOCK system would be an added deterrent and certainly a great tool for law enforcement. It would make LLA less of an attraction for committing these crimes that are here because of our isolation and likelihood of being seen or detected.

Ideally, cameras on the corner of 170th and O and at the LACoFD Station #114 would work well and be of a great assistance to our one-fourteen LASD radio cars.

The FLOCK System possesses the potential to increase officer efficiency, officer safety and close investigations faster.

With warm weather comes increase in crime. It’s a fact. We will see more tents going up for the Mary Jane plants, water theft, etc. A FLOCK system is a needed and obvious necessary tool our LEOs will need.

An appeal for FLOCK cameras for Lake Los Angeles is going to Supervisor Barger today. A report will follow.
