Lake Los Angeles – Dreamers Soccer Clinic session two was held at Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles. The picture was taken just before the kids took to the fields. Then several other eager players arrived, were welcomed and the clinic began with a field full of soccer students excited to get started. While waiting for every player to get registered and out onto the field, ball passing is practiced which gets wild and fun.
The players went through a warmup routine followed by passing/dribbling, then shooting/controlling, defending and skill moves, each in 4 rotations so every player covered every routine.
Joining the group to lend his soccer experience was Carlos Baltazar from Palmdale. Carlos is a 2015 graduate of Antelope Valley College. From there he attended CSUN where he received his BA in 2018 and MA in 2022. Coaches Anthony Contreras, Fernando Contreras, Christian Ramirez and Mario Trejo rounded out the coaching team. Each coach is a volunteer helping as many young players as possible.
Clinics and coaching are not just limited to soccer but is also an opportunity to share stories with each other, speak on their goals and some struggles, how important it is to be educated, to have life values and how to succeed, grow and dream largely knowing each player can have ambitions and accomplish those objectives.
Mario Trejo said in a FB posting, “Storytelling is a big component of our soccer clinics. We want to make sure our participants are able to see our instructors as role models and as a testament that they can also dream big and accomplish their academic and athletic aspirations.
“We hope our kiddos and parents enjoyed session 2! We would see you again next week for our final summer session.”
The third and final clinic is next Friday, July 22. Be there around 6:00PM, get your child registered and start learning soccer! The clinics are open to all children from ages 6 to 17 years.
