VA Greater L.A Healthcare System is now offering COVID-19 vaccinations

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized three COVID-19 vaccines. VA will have a limited amount of vaccines to start. We've worked with the CDC and other federal partners to develop a phased plan. Our goal is to do the most good for the most people during this time.

Currently, VA is offering COVID-19 vaccine to Veterans already receiving care from the VA, based on CDC and VA risk criteria. If you're eligible to get a vaccine, your VA health care team will contact you.

VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is now offering COVID-19 vaccinations to all enrolled Veterans 55 years of age and over! The vaccine is also being offered to healthcare-eligible Veterans within groups that include:

- Health care personnel - Veterans who are post-transplant (excluding cornea transplant) - Veterans on the transplant list - Veterans receiving chemotherapy - Veterans receiving hemodialysis - Veterans with a spinal cord injury - Veterans on immunosuppression (prednisone greater than or equal to 20mg daily or a biologic agent) - Veterans living in congregate living (skilled nursing, assisted living, and homeless shelters) - Veterans who are on chronic supplemental oxygen - Veterans who are essential workers

For this effort, frontline essential workers include:

- First responders (firefighters and police) - Educators (teachers, support staff, daycare) - Food and agriculture workers - Manufacturing workers - Corrections workers - U.S. Postal Service workers - Public transit workers - Grocery store workers Essential workers are asked to present a valid work or small business owner ID when checking in for their appointment.

Veterans who are ineligible for a vaccine at this time are:

- Veterans with an allergy to a component of the vaccine - Veterans with an active COVID-19 infection (infection diagnosed in the last 20 days. Veteran may receive vaccine once 20 days have passed from the time of diagnosis) - Veterans who have received antibody therapy for COVID-19 in the last 90 days

Vaccines are being offered at the West Los Angeles campus Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vaccines are also available at the Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Center and Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Veterans are also being offered vaccines at our community-based outpatient clinics on designated days.

Walk-ins are welcome at the West Los Angeles campus and Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center Monday through Friday, before 12 p.m. Each facility will accommodate walk-ins to the best of their ability however, Veterans without appointments will be placed on standby when necessary. To avoid long wait times, appointments are recommended. Eligible Veterans may call 310-268-4900to schedule their vaccination appointment.

Eligibility for Caregivers

Primary and Secondary Caregivers of Veterans meeting the criteria above and formally enrolled and participating in the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) are also eligible to receive a vaccination at our facilities.
