Two arrested in Palmdale freeway shooting


GLENDALE, Calif. - California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigators arrested two suspects with attempted murder in a freeway shooting that occurred on July 8, 2023, on northbound State-Route 14, just north of Avenue S, near Palmdale, Calif.


The arrests were the result of an aggressive and extensive investigation by the CHP's Southern Division Major Crimes Detectives in collaboration with the Antelope Valley CHP, San Bernardino CHP, and Southern Division CHP K9 Officers. During the investigation, several leads were developed that led to the arrest of the two suspects and seizure of the motorcycle used during the shooting.

Christy Bocanegra, 45, of Hesperia, Calif., was arrested in the City of San Bernardino and charged with Penal Code 664/187(a) - Attempted Murder. Bocanegra is being held on $1,000,000 bail at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Palmdale Station.

• Eric Bourland, 41, of Hesperia, Calif., was arrested in the City of Apple Valley and charged with Penal Code 664/187(a) - Attempted Murder and Penal Code 32 - Accessory to a felony crime. Bourland is being held on $1,150,000 bail at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Palmdale Station.


This remains an active investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.
