Palmdale, CA-Palmdale Station has been chosen to participate in the Carfax Driver Exchange (DEX) pilot program. The DEX program is currently in use in over 500 different law enforcement agencies across the country, as well as a number of local agencies within LA County.
This program uses an application (Carfax for Police) to facilitate the exchange of personal, vehicle and damage information between the involved parties via a link sent to their cell phones for any non-injury traffic collision. At the completion of their input, both parties receive each other's information from the program in a PDF format they can save and easily share with their insurance company. A Spanish language button is available to the involved parties, if needed.
This will not eliminate the response of our deputies to the scene of a non-injury traffic collision. A deputy will still respond out and verify that the information provided and inputted into the program is valid and correct. The use of this program is NOT mandatory, if you prefer to have a deputy respond out and take a handwritten report, they can do so.
The program has gone live as of this morning. So be prepared to provide our call takers with your name and a phone number or email address to send the link for this program. This is only for a non-injury traffic collision called into our station.
Thank you for your understanding and participation as we work to make this new program effective.
