Palmdale, CA.- On Friday, Southern California Edison announced that it may carry out public safety power shutoffs on Friday and Saturday due to strong winds that could potentially knock down power lines and start wildfires.
The PSPS warning is in effect from tonight, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. to tomorrow, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m.
If you are affected by a PSPS shutoff, the following centers are available:
Oasis Park recreation center (3850 East Ave. S) is open tonight until 10 p.m. and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Victory Outreach (37419 25th St. East) will also be open this evening from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Sunday, Jan. 12.
SCE will notify all customers who may be affected, including Critical Care and Medical Baseline customers. Those needing additional medical equipment assistance or motel vouchers should call 211, as SCE has partnered with LA County for customers in need.

SCE uses PSPS to prevent wildfires by temporarily shutting off power to neighborhoods during dangerous weather conditions to prevent the electric system from becoming a source of ignition.
