Sandbag Training Class Saturday, Jan. 25 in Lancaster

Lancaster, Ca.- Antelope Valley CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) will host a Sandbag and Training event on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025


The hands-on training will be 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Lancaster Soccer Center, 43000 30th St. East.


Enter the soccer center from Avenue L, one quarter mile east of 30th Street East, at the recreation building.

There is no cost.


The training is open to the general public; no previous CERT training is required. Youth under age 18 can attend with a parent or legal guardian.


If you have CERT training, you are asked to bring CERT clothing and backpack.


Closed-toe shoes are required, and boots are preferred. Goggles and gloves are required.


If possible, bring a shovel.


The training will teach how to properly fill and stack sandbags to protect property from flooding and mudslides. Free sandbags will be available to all participants.


Topics will include general preparedness, roadway safety, flood/water safety, a discussion of previous flood incident mud and debris flows, and videos and hands-on training of sand bagging and flood fighting.
