Lancaster, California,.- Renage Garrison has announced her candidacy for the City of Lancaster Council election on April 14, 2026.

Garrison and other candidates have submitted their press releases to our readers, providing information about her and her views on her candidacy.

Born and raised in the Antelope Valley, I have deep roots in this community and have proudly called Lancaster home for the past 14 years. My life and work have been shaped by a strong connection to the faith-based community and a commitment to serving others.

For 16 years, I worked in the nonprofit sector, focusing on strengthening communities and supporting those in need. I have partnered with programs like Pen or Pencil, Black Infant Health, Lancaster Community Impact Houses, the Lancaster’s Mayor Prayer Breakfast and many more. I have also spent over 20 years as a youth mentor; an experience that has shown me firsthand the powerful impact that care, guidance, and opportunity can have in a young person’s life. I currently work at Edwards AFB, and I get to serve alongside the military members, veterans and civilians who contribute so much to this country!

Like many residents in our city, I am a regular, working person who feels the impact of every tax increase, every spike in utility rates, and every rise in gas prices. Those everyday realities are part of what motivated me to run for office. I believe our community deserves representation from people who experience the real-life effects of the decisions being made.

I have great respect for those who have stepped forward to serve in public office. At the same time, there are voices within our community that have too often been left out of the conversation. I believe the only way we can truly address the challenges facing our city is by bringing everyone to the table.

My campaign is centered on a simple belief: our community is strongest when we work together.

Because we are better together.

I decided to run for City Council because I believe local government should feel close to the people… not distant. It should reflect us. ALL OF US.  Our values. Our struggles. Our neighborhoods…and our hopes.

I’ve met and had conversations with people all over this valley... I’ve heard worries about safety. Small business owners trying to survive. Seniors feeling overlooked. And young people wondering if they’ll have to leave this community to build a future like the ones their parents had.

That’s not the Lancaster I believe in.

I believe in a city where growth doesn’t leave people behind.

Where public safety and compassion coexist.

Where small businesses are supported.

Where we treat each other with dignity, even when we disagree.

My goal is to build something bigger than an election. We are building trust. We are building accountability. We are building a future we can be proud to hand to hand to the next generation.

My views on…

Public Safety

Public safety is the foundation of a thriving community. Residents deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods, parks, and businesses. I support strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and the community, investing in smart crime prevention strategies, and ensuring our first responders have the resources they need to keep our city safe. At the same time, we must also address the root causes of crime by supporting programs that connect people with mental health services, youth engagement opportunities, and community support.

Economic Growth and Local Business

A strong local economy benefits everyone. I will work to support small businesses, encourage responsible development, and create opportunities for good-paying jobs in our community. By making our city welcoming to entrepreneurs and maintaining a business-friendly environment, we can help ensure long-term economic stability and prosperity for our residents.

Infrastructure

Our infrastructure must keep pace with our community’s growth. That means PRIORITIZING maintaining our roads, improving traffic flow, and investing in the systems that support daily life, from utilities to public spaces. Thoughtful planning today will help ensure our city remains a place where families and businesses can thrive for generations to come.

Community

Good leadership starts with listening. I am committed to being accessible, transparent, and accountable to the people I serve. Our city government should welcome community input and encourage residents to participate in shaping the future of our community.

At the heart of my campaign is a commitment to unity, collaboration, and practical solutions. By working together, with residents, businesses, and community organizations, we can build a safer, stronger, and more vibrant community for everyone.

Lancaster’s future depends on unity, collaboration, and shared responsibility. When we listen to one another, work together, and support one another, we can build a stronger community…because we are always BETTER TOGETHER!
