Lake Los Angeles – Stephen Sorensen Community Regional Park – Senior Center – On Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Senior Center at Stephen Sorensen Community Regional Park in Lake Los Angeles hosted a special ceremony to honor Senior Lead Nayeli Barron.
This event marked the second occasion in which Nayeli was recognized for her outstanding work and the achievements she has made in elevating the Senior Center to its current level of excellence. The first was in November 2025 when she was honored as Recurrent Employee of the month.
The plaque read: “In recognition of your outstanding and dedicated services.” Nayeli Barron was celebrated for her genuine enthusiasm, teamwork and approachable demeanor. She was described as, “She is supportive, helpful and always brings a sense of humor that uplifts those around her. Nayeli’s positive energy and commitment make her a valued member of the North Agency team and a joy to work with.”
Nayeli has played a pivotal role in transforming the Stephen Sorensen Community Regional Park Senior Center. Through her dedication and commitment, the center has grown from serving just a handful of seniors to welcoming an average of over 45 seniors who actively participate in the programs and enjoy the various provisions offered. Her efforts have significantly enhanced the sense of community and engagement among local seniors, making the center a vibrant, welcoming and inclusive space for all.
Surprising her today with a second recognition from the Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation management staff was Trevor Zemp, Regional Recreation Director, North Region, Nayeli, Mika Yamamoto, Deputy Director of Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation and William Champion, Recreation Services Manager Antelope Valley District Parks.
Her seniors, as she refers to them being her “Young at Heart Crew”, were witnesses to her well-deserved award the second time around.
