PALMDALE, CA — Although election results are not yet final, preliminary returns show overwhelming support for Measure DE, which would allow Palmdale residents to directly elect their mayor beginning in November 2028.

According to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s unofficial results as of 3:11 a.m. Wednesday, 74.03% of voters (19,838 votes) supported Measure DE, compared with 25.97% (6,961 votes) voting against it.

The numbers are preliminary, and additional ballots remain to be counted. However, the early results reveal a substantial majority in favor of changing how Palmdale selects its mayor.

Currently, Palmdale’s mayor is selected by the City Council. If Measure DE is approved, voters citywide will have the opportunity to elect their mayor directly.

The results are not final, but the message from voters counted so far is clear: Palmdale residents want a direct voice in choosing their mayor.
