Palmdale to Offer Gift Cards in Exchange for Unwanted Guns

PALMDALE, CA – This Gun Violence Prevention Month, the City of Palmdale is taking a firm stance on public safety by working to get guns off the streets. In partnership with the Palmdale Sheriff's Station, the City is pleased to announce a gun buyback event aimed at reducing gun violence in our community. Residents of Palmdale and the Greater Antelope Valley are invited to turn in their unwanted firearms in exchange for gift cards to local businesses.
“Public safety is our number one priority in Palmdale,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “The gun buyback event is a vital step in taking unwanted or unused guns off our streets and out of our neighborhoods, making our City a safer place for everyone.”
The buyback event will take place on Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Poncitlán Square, 38315 9th St. East, Palmdale.
Participants will receive the following for their firearms: $50 gift card for non-working firearms or parts; $100 gift card for working pistols, rifles and shotguns; $200 gift card for ghost guns (guns with no serial numbers); $300 gift card for assault rifles (AR-15, AK-47, etc.). Gift cards for Palmdale local businesses will be offered to support the local economy while promoting a safer environment for all residents.
Firearms must be unloaded and transported in the trunk of your vehicle. No identification is required to participate in this event, ensuring anonymity for all individuals involved.
