PALMDALE, CA — Palmdale is dedicated to keeping neighborhoods beautiful, clean and resilient by providing street sweeping on local roads. By clearing leaves, litter and sediment from gutters, street sweeping reduces flooding risks, protects local waterways, enhances pest control and extends the life of our roads. To make it easier for everyone to participate, the City has installed clear signage and parking guidelines so residents can plan ahead.

Street sweeping has been a longstanding City service. Following extensive community engagement in 2024, Palmdale modified parking regulations to address resident concerns about long-term parked or broken-down vehicles and drainage build-up impacting neighborhood cleanliness.

“This program reflects our commitment to policies that work for the people we serve while protecting critical infrastructure,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “By moving your car twice a month, we can all make a difference in keeping our community clean and free of debris.”

Street sweeping occurs twice monthly on the first business day following WM’s scheduled trash collection. Residents are required to move their vehicles off the street during the designated street sweeping times.

Now that all signs are installed, there will be a short grace period before enforcement begins. Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the parking regulations specific to their street to avoid inconvenience. If vehicles are not removed, the City will issue citations to vehicles that block sweeping operations. The fee for the violation will be $55.50, subject to additional late/collection fees.
