PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is accepting applications for one public member to serve on the Palmdale Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District Public Financing Authority (EIFD), a key body that will help guide infrastructure planning and financing for the community.
The Public Financing Authority is the governing board of the Palmdale EIFD. Under state law, the board is made up of two City Councilmembers and one public member, all of whom serve at the pleasure of the City Council. The selected public member will fill the remainder of the two-year term, which expires 6/2027, and meetings will be held as needed. This is an unpaid position.
“The Public Financing Authority will play an important role in helping shape how Palmdale plans for future infrastructure investments,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “This is an opportunity for a community member to be directly involved in a process that can support projects that benefit our residents and strengthen our city for years to come.”
The Authority will oversee the preparation of an Infrastructure Financing Plan for the Palmdale EIFD. That plan will outline projected tax increment revenues, identify infrastructure projects to be financed, establish revenue and bond caps and include district formation and election cost information. In the future, the Authority will also be responsible for the issuance ofbonds for the Palmdale EIFD.
“We encourage residents and business owners who want to make a meaningful contribution to Palmdale’s future to apply,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “This is a chance to bring community perspective to an important effort focused on infrastructure, investment and long-term planning.”
Applicants must reside in the City of Palmdale or own a business in the City. Experience with public infrastructure projects, public finance, municipal bonds or construction is desired but not required. As part of the final selection process, applicants must pass a California Department of Justice Livescan fingerprint scan, and the appointed member will be required to file a Statement of Economic Interests, Form 700.
