Palmdale Plans Major Avenue T Road Improvements, Invites Residents to November 19 Community Meeting

PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is moving forward with plans to improve a heavily traveled section of Avenue T, a major roadway connecting communities in the eastern Antelope Valley.
The proposed Avenue T Street Improvement Project will focus on the stretch between 55th Street East and 80th Street East, addressing deteriorating pavement conditions, drainage issues, traffic operations and driveway access while improving safety for drivers and pedestrians.
City officials are inviting residents, commuters, business owners and others who regularly travel the corridor to attend a community open house on Thursday, November 19, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Palmdale Oasis Recreation Center, located at 3850 E. Avenue S.
During the meeting, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about the planned improvements, anticipated project schedule and potential construction impacts.
Important Connection for Littlerock and Lake Los Angeles
Avenue T serves as an important transportation route for residents traveling between Littlerock, Lake Los Angeles and surrounding communities.
The roadway connects with State Route 138 and Pearblossom Highway, providing access to other major transportation routes throughout the Antelope Valley.
In addition to everyday commuters, Avenue T accommodates commercial trucks, including vehicles traveling from a nearby quarry toward State Route 14 through Pearblossom Highway.
The combination of passenger vehicles and heavy truck traffic makes pavement maintenance, drainage and roadway safety important concerns along the corridor.
Planned Roadway Improvements
According to the City of Palmdale, the project will include several improvements designed to make Avenue T safer and more reliable.
Planned work includes:
Pavement rehabilitation to improve driving conditions.
Roadway drainage improvements to address water runoff.
Traffic operational improvements to support more efficient vehicle movement.
Driveway access improvements for properties along the roadway.
Additional safety enhancements for motorists and pedestrians.
The improvements are intended to support current transportation needs while improving the long-term condition and functionality of the roadway.
