Palmdale Issues 97 Citations and $242,500 in Fines During 4th of July Fireworks Crackdown

PALMDALE, Calif. — The City of Palmdale announced a significant enforcement effort over the Fourth of July holiday, issuing 97 citations and assessing $242,500 in fines for illegal fireworks violations throughout the city.

According to the City, Palmdale Code Enforcement officers responded to numerous complaints from residents during the Independence Day holiday, targeting the use of illegal fireworks in neighborhoods across Palmdale.

The enforcement operation resulted in:

• 97 citations issued

• $242,500 in fines

• Numerous illegal fireworks confiscated and removed from city streets

City officials emphasized that illegal fireworks pose serious risks, including fires, injuries, property damage, disturbances to neighborhoods, and stress for pets and veterans.

The City also thanked residents who reported illegal fireworks, noting that community participation played an important role in the enforcement effort.

“Think twice. Because if you light it, we’ll write it,” the City stated in a social media post highlighting the crackdown.

Officials continue to remind residents that only approved public fireworks displays are legal in many areas and encourage the public to report illegal fireworks activity to help keep neighborhoods safe.

As Southern California continues to experience hot, dry conditions, authorities stress that preventing fireworks-related fires remains a top priority.
