PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale invites residents to remember, honor and serve during its 9/11 National Day of Service on Saturday, Sept. 12. Held under the theme “United We Serve,” the event will bring families, neighbors and community members together for meaningful acts of kindness to honor the lives lost on September 11 and recognize those who serve and strengthen the City.

“This is a day to remember those we lost on 9/11and honor the courage and selflessness shown by first responders, the military and everyday Americans,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “By serving alongside our neighbors, we carry that spirit of unity forward and make a meaningful difference in Palmdale.”

Participants can contribute to several volunteer projects, including:

• Assembling care packages for local seniors

• Completing community beautification projects

• Creating thank-you cards for local first responders and essential workers

“Service is a powerful way to honor the legacy of September 11 and show gratitude to those who safeguard our community every day,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “Whether it’s assembling a care package, beautifying the neighborhood or writing a simple thank-you card, every act of kindness brings Palmdale together.”

The thank-you cards will be shared with firefighters, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department personnel, California Highway Patrol officers, Code Enforcement officers, hospital staff, Animal Control officers and Public Works crews.

The event is designed for volunteers of all ages and offers families an opportunity to serve together while recognizing the people who work each day to support and protect the community.
