PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is officially kicking off National Small Business Week with a powerful commitment to its local economy through the launch of two new support initiatives: the Shop Palmdale Community Card and the Business of the Month Billboard Program. These programs are specifically designed to boost the local business community, centering support on commercial brick-and-mortar establishments with fewer than 10 locations. By focusing on smaller, local ventures, the City aims to help those most significantly impacted by the rising operational costs of today’s economy.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our City,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “They are the engines of innovation and the familiar faces that make our neighborhoods feel like home. We are incredibly excited to provide these new programs to continue our dedication to enabling the success of our residents and ensuring our local shops have the tools they need to flourish.”
The cornerstone of this effort is the Shop Palmdale Community Card, a Mastercard-powered gift card for use exclusively at enrolled Palmdale businesses. To roll out this exciting perk, the City is sponsoring a special limited-time “Bonus Card” campaign throughout the month of May. This promotion offers tiered bonus rewards: buy a $25 card, get a $10 bonus card; buy a $50 card, get a $20 bonus; and buy a $100 card, get a $50 bonus.
Residents are encouraged to consider the Shop Palmdale Community Card for their next gift or personal purchase to take full advantage of the City-sponsored promotion. The City also invites local employers and civic organizations to make bulk purchases of these cards to use as impactful employee, customer, or member appreciation gifts. To purchase a gift card or to apply as a participating business owner, please visit the official portal at https://palmdale.yiftee.com/.
The Business of the Month Billboard Program will highlight one business per month on digital billboards along SR 14 in Palmdale. Along with a feature on the City’s website and social media, this increased visibility will drive new customers to Palmdale businesses, supporting the City’s economic vitality.
“Our community thrives when we choose to support one another,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “With these programs, we are creating a win-win scenario where we help our residents afford the essential purchases they need while simultaneously facilitating the growth and long-term resilience of our own local entrepreneurs.”
These two programs will support our local business community year-round. To learn more about the programs or to apply for the Business of the Month Billboard Program, visit www.CityOfPalmdaleCA.gov/SBA or call the Economic Development division at 661-267-5125.
