Palmdale City Leaders Strongly Object to Release of Convicted Rapist to Nearby Community

PALMDALE, CA – The City of Palmdale has been informed that convicted serial rapist Christopher Hubbart is to be released from the Department of State Hospitals as per the order of a Santa Clara County Superior Court judge. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will be holding a placement hearing October 1, 2024 to consider his placement at 28800 Cruthers Creek Road, Pearlblossom, CA 93553.
City leaders have responded with anger and frustration at this news, and while the placement address is outside the city limits of Palmdale, it is recognized that his presence will create fear for many women in the area.
This is not the first time the State has attempted to return Hubbart to the area. He was returned nearly a decade ago and then placed under detention when he violated the terms of her release. The decision by a Northern California to release him to a legally required Los Angeles County location has caused further anger and questions for the community.
Residents wishing to express their viewpoints on this Placement Hearing can attempt to attend in person, but there are only five seats available, or they can email the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office at SVPcomments@da.lacounty.gov or send a letter to:

Comments should be submitted by September 17, 2024.
“While we as city leaders will be expressing our strong objections to the return of sexual predator Hubbart to the greater Antelope Valley, I urge community members to join me in expressing objections directly to the hearing process,” urged Mayor Pro Tem Richard Loa. “This entire process is further evidence that California’s soft-on-crime policies place our most vulnerable at risk, particularly women and generally cast a dark cloud of fear over the law-abiding citizens of this state. Choose your policy leaders wisely.”
