Palmdale Announces Spay and Neuter Program in Partnership with Community Effort Animal Rescue (C.E.A.R)

PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is proud to announce the return of the spay and neuter program aimed at addressing stray overpopulation and promoting responsible pet ownership. This subsidized initiative is funded through Measure AV and will newly be managed by Community Effort Animal Rescue (C.E.A.R). The project provides an opportunity for Palmdale residents to help reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs while ensuring the health and safety of their furry companions.
“Community Effort Animal Rescue is doing great work to support individuals who strive to be conscientious pet parents,” said Mayor Richard J Loa. “This not only helps manage the stray population but also provides a much-needed spay and neuter service, making animal care more accessible to everyone.”Participants who can show proof of residency with a valid government issued ID and a utility bill in their name will be able to access the subsidized spay and neuter surgeries for their animals. The program will be available to residents in zip codes 93550, 93551 and 93552. Owners are responsible for all deposits and any costs beyond the subsidized portion of the spay or neuter.“This is a great opportunity for us to address animal overpopulation in an affordable way,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “By offering this assistance, we can make sure that four-legged family members are cared for while reducing the amount of strays in our City.”
All cats and dogs must have a current rabies vaccine, or one will be administered at the owner’s expense. Proof of ownership, such as vaccine record or other veterinary documentation, is also required. Appointments for surgeries can be made by visiting their website at www.CommunityEffortAnimalRescue.com/Spay-and-Neuter-Program or calling C.E.A.R. at 661/389-3911.
