Not every street in Palmdale is made for heavy trucks.

avdailynews.com

Palmdale-Have you noticed on your daily drive to work and back there are fewer commercial trucks on your residential streets? There is a big reason for that, and his name is Deputy Van Ornum.

Deputy Steven Van Ornum is a 22-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department and was just recently given the large responsibility of educating the public on safe commercial driving practices. He has undergone extensive commercial truck enforcement training at CHP headquarters in Sacramento and is able to perform vehicle safety inspections and log inspections as well as educate the drivers on the designated truck routes within city limits. Commercial truck enforcement pertains to any vehicle performing a duty or service for commercial purposes.

Deputy Van Ornum takes public safety very seriously, and from the pictures below you can see how important it is to make sure commercial drivers transporting goods through Palmdale are mindful of the safety of our residents.

Not every street in Palmdale is constructed of materials to handle the wear and tear and weight of a commercial semi-truck. The City of Palmdale is working to repair our residential streets and would like to remind our commercial drivers to adhere to the designated truck routes.

THANK YOU, Deputy Van Ornum, for your dedication to keeping the residents of Palmdale safe on our streets!!
