Mothers sharing special moments with other mothers

Lake Los Angeles – Save the Children – Wilsona School District – Thursday, May 5, 2022, 49 mommies in the program gathered to celebrate Mother’s Day together. The air was warm with a light breeze and every table filled with guests enjoying the event.

They were greeted by lovely tables, table settings and floral center pieces. Maria Olegine, Senior Early Childhood Coordinator/Community Ambassador addressed the guests in Spanish and English saying, “When you do a job, that’s a good thing; when you do what you love, that’s another thing. We love this community. Every day that we see you is a lovely day for us.”

A photo booth was set up so the moms could take pictures with their children, or together with each other, as a memory of the occasion. In the photo booth is Maria, Dulce Morga, Susan Gonzalez, and Silvia Sandoval who put this wonderful event together.

An opening activity for the children was to have a sheet from Rainbow Scratch Pad kits where scratching the paper reveals vibrant colors underneath. The children scratched a picture of what they wanted their mother to have. A lot of laughing and squealing was going on.

This was followed by a classroom activity and snack lunch for the children while the mommies enjoyed a Subway sandwich lunch with each other outdoors.

Save the Children’s Partner Baby2Baby provided exciting gift bags and boxes for the mothers. The boxes and bags were filled with OLAY, French lavender hand soap, a luxurious bathrobe, Safeguard liquid hand soap, Defendr+ hand sanitizer, face cloth, American Airlines handy travel pouch, earth mama® ginger fresh deodorant, Earl Grey & Mulberry Native body wash, CVS soap sheets, Honest beauty lip crayon and blush poudre for the mommies. The bags themselves were by Kiddy Kaddy which could be used around the house or out in the garden.
