Mental Health Workshops at the Library

PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Library, 700 E Palmdale Blvd., will host two free mental health workshops on Depression Awareness and Recovery on Thursday, Feb. 23. A Spanish language workshop is scheduled from 10 am to 11:15 am and an English language workshop from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm.

The workshops are a partnership between the Library and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) United Mental Health Promoters Program. The program aims to reduce mental health stigma in communities across Los Angeles County by increasing awareness about mental health issues, removing barriers, and providing culturally and linguistically appropriate resources.

“We look forward to working with the LA County Mental Health Promoters Program,” said Library Director Robert Shupe. “They bridge people to resources across the county, and we are happy to bring them to our community.”

The LACDMH United Mental Health Promoters Program provides outreach and engagement, educational workshops, linkage and referrals, all through a culture-specific lens.

The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. For more information, please call the Palmdale City Library at 661/267-5600 or TDD 267-5167 or visit www.cityofpalmdale.org/library.
