Lancaster, California,-City of Lancaster held its general public meeting on Tuesday, August 12. During the meeting, Mayor R. Rex Parris called for the deployment of the national guard to the city.
He cited President Trump’s deployment of the national guard to Washington, D.C., as a precedent for the city’s situation.
Mayor Parris also mentioned that the FBI Oversight Committee recommended that the City of Lancaster needs to have an additional 150 police officers, but the city does not .
Mayor Parris also mentioned Plant 42 Northrop Grumman, which is facing challenges in filling positions due to the high crime rate in the Antelope Valley.
Mayor Parris informed the public that he had written a letter to the Trump Administration, requesting the deployment of the national guard to the city. He underscored the national security significance of the area, which houses aircraft manufacturing and defense facilities for the nation.
Governor Newsom this week said
“While the President continues his assault on democracy, this time by threatening to deploy federal law enforcement officials to states across the country, California has brought down crime in nearly every major category. Based on data released by the California Department of Justice, nearly every major crime category, including violent crime and homicides, dropped in 2024.
President Trump is peddling the same tired lie he used in Los Angeles — claiming there’s rampant lawlessness in Democratic cities like Washington, D.C. The truth? GOP-led cities have higher crime rates. His authoritarian orders aren’t about safety — they’re an attack on the very foundation of our nation and a slap in the face to democracy.”

General Public Meeting ..
So the president is saying crime is out of control, the fbi city oversight committee is saying we need 150 more officers than we have, and the mayor calls the president so he can get the national guard for the crime in our area, but the governor says Everyone must be lying because the crime has gone down.. well who is telling the truth?
