Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Homeless Outreach Mobile Engagement

Lake Los Angeles - Regarding the homeless count, it is troublesome to not-at-all to get numbers on the Antelope Valley two cities, and even more unlikely for the LLA community.

While the County’s data covers the entire region, Lake Los Angeles is a smaller community within the County. Homelessness in the community tends to reflect broader county trends — high housing costs, economic instability, and limited affordable housing — but is also determined by local factors like proximity to major employment hubs, transportation access, and community resources.

While exact Lake Los Angeles-specific counts are not singled out or published, LLA residents can expect:

• Continued occasional presence of both sheltered and unsheltered individuals

• Ongoing need for affordable housing, mental health, and medical services

• Local outreach and shelter services through LAHSA and county programs

• Local outreach and referrals through SBCC

It may be possible later in the summer 2026 to calculate a Lake LA number using Census tracts. This will be revisited with Supervisor Barger’s Senior Field Deputy Chuck Bostwick.

 LLA Resident/Resource Deputy Gilbert Borruel has planned to have Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Homeless Outreach Mobile Engagement to discuss engaging vulnerable populations and helping them secure necessary resources as Part I.

 Part II the HOST team has been invited to speak to community members at the WATCH meeting in July. HOST is an acronym for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homeless Outreach Services Team. HOST is already present in LLA working with Deputy Borruel.

 LAHSA stands for the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, the lead agency coordinating housing and social services for homeless individuals in Los Angeles County.
