Lake Los Angeles – Sorensen Community Regional Park - Jorge Gutierrez, PLA, Section Head – Capital Projects Group County of Los Angeles Department of Parks & Recreation advised how the Wellness Centers are coming together nicely saying, "We are currently in construction at fourteen of our parks and moving quickly.

“Regarding drawings, attached please find rendering that were done representative of the future Wellbeing and Teen OurSPOT Spaces. Please note that these rendering are not site specific for Stephen Sorensen Park and are simply a representation of the spaces. The final layout will vary from park to park based on existing walkways, trees, etc. Also, not all parks will have shade sails or same quantity based on site specific constraints. Due to Stephen Sorensen’s archaeological history, we cannot install shade sails due to the required depth of the post footings.

“The project is currently about 60% completed. Trees and planting will be installed soon. Regarding opening date, we are awaiting confirmation regarding delivery of the precast concrete benches. Once we have a confirmed date, we will be able to post a notice notifying park patrons when the area will be open.”

These wellness spaces are intentionally designed for community members to gather together. The park, being neutral ground and safe, is a logical place for the Wellness Center. They serve a reminder that great places don't happen by accident. They're imagined, planned, and designed with care.

“Be the reason that people come together and get to know each other”.
