Palmdale, CA – Palmdale Water District (PWD) customers are invited to attend the next Let’s Talk H2O! event that will highlight the state’s new long-term water efficiency rules, also known as the Making Conservation a California Way of Life regulations.
The free event will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at PWD’s
main office located at 2029 East Avenue Q in Palmdale. To register, please
go to https://bit.ly/LetsTalk26.
PWD Resource and Analytics Director Claudia Bolanos, who oversees
the Water-Use Efficiency team, will share information about Making
Conservation a California Way of Life regulations and how it resulted from
two state laws, Assembly Bill 1668 and Senate Bill 606.
“The new ‘California Way of Life’ regulations are about making our water supply last for the long haul,” Bolanos said. “For homeowners, the biggest change isn’t a
ban on your personal lawn. Instead, the state has given PWD a water budget, and we’ll need
your help to stay within it.”
For PWD commercial and industrial customers, the nonfunctional turf ban will roll out in phases beginning in 2027, in line with the state’s new requirements. Residential customers are not required to remove turf under these state regulations. PWD is responsible for meeting its
overall water-use budget set by the state.
During the event, Bolanos and her team will also share practical ways customers can use
water wisely every day, highlight available programs and rebates, and explain how our
community’s collective efforts will be needed to help meet state requirements and protect local supplies for future droughts.
Since 1918, the Palmdale Water District has provided high-quality water at a reasonable
