LASD reminds residents tampering with fire hydrants is illegal.

Water theft is the illegal tapping of water supply systems and has become a growing problem in the unincorporated areas of the county, including High Vista, Lake Los Angeles, Roosevelt and Antelope Acres . Theft of potable water typically occurs with illegal access and tapping of fire hydrants and can lead to critical low pressure alarms and the inability to provide water to paying customers.

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station takes this opportunity to remind residents of the following safety tips:

*Do NOT duplicate keys or access cards provided to customers.

*Do NOT tamper with fire hydrants in any way.

*If you see something, say something. Large water trucks filling up at fire hydrants should be reported to our station by calling (661) 948-8466. Residents can assist our deputies by providing good information such a license plate, a description and the last seen direction of the truck.

* Use all of the resources available to our community! Emergencies calls should be placed to 9-1-1. Non-emergency calls for incidents that are currently occurring should be called in to our station at the number listed above. For incidents that are ongoing, please contact your Zone 3 Deputy. Deputy Norris can be reached via email at LCSZone3@lasd.org and by phone at (661) 940-3847.

Our station has extra patrol units in the unincorporated county areas on the East side around the clock to help minimize the theft occurring. As always, we are just a phone call away.
