Landfill Voucher program extend for another year to unincorporated residents.

Lancaster – The Landfill Voucher program has been such a success and will continue to be offered to Antelope Valley unincorporated residents for another year.

The Antelope Valley Illegal Dumping Task Force at the regular bi-monthly meeting held virtually on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 confirmed the Landfill Voucher Program would continue into the fiscal year 2021-2022. It was already approved as a budget item but the members felt it also needed a confirmation vote at the public meeting.

The Task Force voting members weighed in on adjusting up to 1 ton loads in lieu of the existing 1/2 ton load limits as a pilot for this coming fiscal year, evaluating the costs vs results next June to see if it pays dividends. If so the Task Force could chose to extend the 1 ton limit into the next fiscal year. Here is what will happen to the printed vouchers that have been issued:

• The existing vouchers for 1/2 ton load limit were honored for the 1/2 load limit up to June 30, 2021, when the vouchers expired.

• The new vouchers for the fiscal year 2021-2022 will be printed with the 1-ton load limit.

• All other terms and conditions remain the same.

The average load has been 3/8ths of a load so the costs are not expected to uptick sharply and the program can better serve those who have need for larger/heavier loads and require the 1-ton allowed.

Residents in the unincorporated areas of the Antelope Valley can continue to call Supervisor Barger’s office at 661-726-3600 and reserve vouchers.

The County offices are still closed to the public so a phone call is the best route to take.

Someone from the office will meet you at the door with your voucher(s).
