LANCASTER POLICE SEIZE OVER 1,250 POUNDS OF ILLEGAL FIREWORKS, ANNOUNCE ZERO-TOLERANCE ENFORCEMENT

LANCASTER, Calif. — More than 1,250 pounds of illegal fireworks have been seized in recent enforcement actions by the Lancaster Police Department, including a 1,000-pound discovery made during a multi-agency search warrant service.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office was serving a warrant at a Lancaster residence on an unrelated investigation when deputies discovered approximately 1,000 pounds of illegal fireworks. VCSO requested assistance from the Lancaster Police Department, which responded to safely seize and remove the explosives from the community.

“These explosives pose a significant risk of injury, fire, and property damage,” the Lancaster Police Department said in a statement. “This seizure is another reminder that illegal fireworks are being actively identified and taken off our streets.”

In separate Fourth of July enforcement efforts, Lancaster PD officers seized an additional 250+ pounds of illegal fireworks and made multiple arrests.

Zero-Tolerance Approach

The department said it is taking a “zero-tolerance approach to illegal fireworks this Fourth of July season.”

“Illegal fireworks are more than just a nuisance, they’re a serious threat to our community,” the department stated. “They can cause devastating fires, serious injuries, and unnecessary danger to our neighborhoods and first responders.”

Residents found possessing or using illegal fireworks may face citations, arrest, and seizure of the fireworks. Enforcement efforts will continue throughout the holiday season.

Ongoing Partnerships

Lancaster PD said it will continue working with law enforcement partners, including the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, to enforce California’s fireworks laws.

Photos provided by the department show large quantities of commercial-grade fireworks, including aerial shells and multi-shot cakes, seized from homes and vehicles. Officers were also seen detaining suspects during the operations.
