Lancaster Mayor Presents Key to the City to Consul General Akira Muto


Lancaster, Ca—Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris presented Consul General Akira Muto, an advocate of Lancaster, with a Key to the City for his work in connecting Lancaster with Namie, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Together, the two mayors signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in their respective cities, marking their efforts toward the world's first bilateral agreement by municipalities to use hydrogen as their green energy strategy.

“I wanted to take a moment to recognize the man that made this all possible - Consul General Muto. We are inspired by your passion and vision for creating a more sustainable world. It is because of you and your team that we are here today and are within reach of our green energy goals. Two cities across the world are coming together with a common cause that will revolutionize the world,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “It is my honor to bestow this Key to the City of Lancaster to you, Consul General Muto, a trusted friend and partner to our City. Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to creating a better future for generations to come.”

The Key to the City is bestowed upon distinguished citizens and residents, as well as honored guests.
