LANCASTER, CA — Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris, shared new crime data this week on his social nedia account (FB) showing significant decreases in major offenses across the city during the first four months of 2026.
Citing official Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department figures, the mayor said the January through April numbers show “a meaningful, sustained improvement across nearly every major crime category” when compared to the same period in 2025.

Key City of Lancaster Trends, Jan–Apr 2025 vs Jan–Apr 2026:
Homicides: Down 67% — from 6 to 2
Car theft: Down 59% — from 456 vehicles to 188
Burglary: Down 27%
Overall serious crime: Down nearly 27%

“That’s not a rounding error,” Mayor Rex stated in his social media update. “These numbers reflect real work by the Lancaster Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, our public safety partners, and a community that insists on safe neighborhoods.”
The mayor noted one area of concern: theft has increased in unincorporated parts of the Antelope Valley outside city limits. He said that trend is affecting countywide Sheriff’s Station statistics but does not reflect Lancaster’s city numbers. “We're tracking it closely,” he added.
Mayor Rex will continue monitoring the data and sharing updates with residents. “We'll keep watching, keep sharing, and keep pushing,” the post concluded.
