Lake Los Angeles – December 24, 2025 - The Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, Lancaster Sheriff’s Boosters and Los Angeles County Public Works provided bicycles for students in Lake Los Angeles, this year from the Wilsona Elementary School. Superintendent Dale Brown of the Public Works County Road Yard #555 on 173rd and East Avenue J and the road maintenance crew assembled the bicycles for the kids. Two local residents who chose to be anonymous donated helmets for each student. For students who were away on vacation, the bikes will be delivered when they return.

The tradition of giving Christmas bicycles to students in Lake Los Angeles began in December 2018. It was initiated by Resident Deputy Kit Gruppie, who played a key role in establishing this annual event. Deputy Gruppie remains actively involved, helping to ensure that the tradition continues each year and benefits local students.

Resident and Resource Deputy Gilberto Borruel, Private Jonathan Borruel, U S Army stationed in Texas, Dale Brown and Shirley Harriman delivered the bicycles on Christmas Eve, 2025, in the rain.

Despite the rain, the generosity and holiday spirit behind the bicycle giveaway remained strong. The weather could not diminish the excitement and gratitude felt by the students who received the gifts and the appreciation from the parents, nor did it deter participants from coming together to support the children of Lake Los Angeles’ Wilsona Elementary.
