Lake Los Angeles Lunar plays to a full house

Lake Los Angeles – Stephen Sorensen Community Regional Park – The Lunar New Year celebration took place at the park on Friday, February 20, 2026, and the room was packed with happy families.

There was food, crafts and everything family-oriented entertainment, treasures to take home, memories to make.

On Fridays, the LLA Neighborhood Action Council (NAC) group Crocheting for a Cause meets so they joined in with the Lunar program along with Jacqueline Guillen and Silvia Sandoval from Wilsona Save The Children.

While Lunar was being celebrated in the community room, the gymnasium was filled with basketball March Madness players and their families.

Pictured wrapping tchotchkes from the Black History Month event are Erika Schwerdt and Patricia Gnome and joined by Basilio Hernandez. They wrapped up the charms with a friendship like bracelet and handed them out to the families that were there in the gymnasium for the annual basketball tournaments.

It was a busy fun night at the park.

The next community park event is 2026 Spring Jubilee March 21. Peter Rabbit will be there for photo ops, eggs will be hunted, crafts, games, food tasting and outdoor activities. Put a circle on Saturday March 21 at 11:00am as you have a date to celebrate at the park.
