Jeremiah Farrell Seeks Palmdale City Council District 3 Seat, Focusing on Faith, Lower Taxes and Public Safety

PALMDALE, Calif. — Jeremiah Farrell, a candidate for Palmdale City Council District 3 in the November 3, 2026 election, is campaigning on a platform emphasizing fiscal responsibility, improved public safety, stronger families, limited government and faith-based community involvement.
In responses to an AV Daily News candidate questionnaire, Farrell said his Christian faith and commitment to public service motivated his decision to run for office.
“I’m running because I’m a follower of Jesus. I pray about most of what I do,” Farrell said. “After significant prayer I felt it was my duty to help Palmdale residents stop being taken advantage of by their government.”
Farrell brings experience in military service, overseas diplomatic protection, international humanitarian relief, homeless outreach, youth mentorship and education. He currently teaches at the middle school, high school and college levels and works periodically in land surveying on local infrastructure projects.
Lower Taxes and Fiscal Responsibility
Farrell identified reducing government spending, taxes and regulations as major priorities.
Farrell raised concerns about Palmdale’s sales tax and EPIC Energy program, saying he believes both contribute to higher living costs for local families.
Farrell believes reducing taxes, eliminating unnecessary spending and prioritizing local businesses for city contracts would help families and encourage economic development.
“Palmdale used to be an affordable place to live, with small sensible government, but now people are being priced out of this area just like they are in LA,” he said.
His specific claims about electricity costs and government spending represent his campaign positions and have not been independently verified in this article.
Public Safety and Police Services
Farrell supports exploring the possibility of establishing a Palmdale police department or adopting a hybrid policing model to supplement existing law enforcement services.
He believes locally controlled policing could increase patrol coverage, improve response capabilities and provide greater accountability to residents.
Although he praised Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies, Farrell said a local police force could focus exclusively on Palmdale’s needs.
Strengthening Families and Communities
Another central focus of Farrell’s campaign is addressing family instability, particularly the absence of fathers in children’s lives.
He believes parents, churches, nonprofit organizations and community leaders should take greater responsibility for mentoring young people and supporting families.
Farrell favors encouraging faith-based organizations to organize father-son, father-daughter and other family activities rather than expanding government-operated programs.
Business Development and Housing
Farrell supports reducing regulations and simplifying the process of opening and operating businesses in Palmdale.
He also favors giving local companies greater consideration for city contracts whenever possible.
On housing affordability, Farrell believes lower taxes and fewer development restrictions could encourage private investment and increase housing opportunities.
Directly Elected Mayor and Accountability
Farrell opposes Palmdale’s rotating mayor system and supports allowing residents to elect their mayor directly.
He also advocates returning to two City Council meetings per month, holding regular town halls and maintaining communication with constituents.
Immigration and Community Services
On immigration, Farrell expressed support for legal immigration and opposition to unauthorized immigration.
When questioned about bilingual city services for Hispanic and Latino residents, Farrell emphasized individual independence and the availability of translation technology rather than additional government services.
His responses reflect his broader position that government should focus primarily on protecting residents’ rights, safety and property.
A Campaign Centered on Faith and Limited Government
Farrell describes his priorities as strengthening families, improving public safety, reducing financial burdens and restoring what he considers responsible leadership at City Hall.
He also identifies as pro-life and believes faith-based organizations can play a larger role in addressing community challenges.
Farrell is among five candidates seeking the District 3 seat in the November 3 election.
