Palmdale, Calif. — Jennifer Navarro, a member of the Westside Union School District (WUS)D)Governing Board since February 2017, is seeking reelection, highlighting her continued commitment to student success, educational excellence, and responsible leadership.

Navarro, a longtime Antelope Valley resident, has strong personal and family connections to the community. She raised her two daughters in the Antelope Valley, and both attended Westside Union School District schools. Her family has also owned and operated a local small business for nearly 50 years.

“WUSD has always been very special to me,” Navarro stated. “I have lived in the Antelope Valley most of my life and raised my two daughters here, both of whom attended WUSD schools.”

Navarro credits her family’s small-business background with teaching her the importance of hard work, perseverance, responsibility, and dedication values she says have guided her approach to community service and educational leadership.

Since her appointment to the Governing Board in February 2017, Navarro has emphasized the importance of collaboration among board members, teachers, administrators, parents, and community stakeholders.

She praised the accomplishments of WUSD students and educators, noting that district schools have received state and national recognition despite facing significant challenges.

“WUSD students, teachers and administrators are doing amazing things, even under the most difficult of circumstances,” Navarro said.

Navarro also stressed that effective school board leadership requires cooperation, open communication, and the ability to respectfully disagree while keeping students’ interests at the center of decision-making.

“It takes a commitment and willingness to work as a team, even when respectfully disagreeing,” she stated.

Reflecting on the challenges school districts have faced in recent years, Navarro said she has remained committed to being a collaborative, level-headed, and engaged board member representing students, teachers, parents, and taxpayers.

As she seeks another term, Navarro continues to emphasize safe schools, positive learning environments, quality education, and maintaining Westside Union School District as a district of choice for Antelope Valley families.

“I remain passionate about providing a safe, positive, and quality learning environment for our children!” Navarro stated.

She concluded her reelection message by asking voters for the opportunity to continue serving on the WUSD Governing Board.
