Following the election, Barcelona released a statement thanking California City residents, friends, and family for their support.
“I am very Grateful, Honored, and Inspired by this Opportunity to Serve. I believe my lead will hold and our Victory will be certified on December 11th.”
Barcelona described the election as the beginning of an important new journey and said his leadership would be guided by his belief in God, family, and country.
Barcelona promises unity and a stronger city government
In his statement, Barcelona emphasized that bringing residents and city leadership together will be among his first priorities.
“My first order of business is to bring everyone together as a Team and work toward improving everything in our community because that is what has been missing.”
Barcelona said he wants to improve city operations, strengthen economic development, address infrastructure needs, and restore confidence in local government.
A major priority will be completing the hiring process for a new city manager with experience in economic development, municipal operations, public works, water infrastructure, road maintenance, and financial management.
He also plans to prioritize hiring a qualified director of finance and completing outstanding city audits.
According to Barcelona, completing those audits could help release restricted funds that could then be used to address urgent community needs.
Advocating for California City
Barcelona also pledged to seek greater support and resources from state and federal government officials.
“I will fight for and Lobby for our city in Sacramento and in our Nation’s Capitol so that everyone is aware of us.”
He stressed that his administration would seek to represent all residents, regardless of whom they supported in the election.
“As I stated in my campaign, I will be a Mayor for Everyone,” Barcelona said, inviting residents to participate in shaping the city’s future.
Awaiting official certification
Although all 12 precincts have reported, the election results remain unofficial. Additional ballot processing could affect the final totals.
Barcelona has expressed confidence that his lead will hold and expects the election to be certified on December 11.
If the results remain unchanged, Barcelona will become California City’s next mayor, beginning a two-year term focused on unity, economic development, financial accountability, and improvements to city services.
