HHW & E-Waste Scheduled

avdailynews.com

Alhambra - The 2022 Annual Lake Los Angeles Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Roundup will be on Saturday, May 14, Vista San Gabriel School location as always. A new flier with times, etc., for this crucial event will be out late March, early April.

Here are some tips to help everyone understand the process and take part in it confidently. Do you have a microwave that died? Take it here. How about a toaster oven? Yep, it goes here. A TV that is beyond repair? Bring it! How about a printer that does not work anymore? Yep, it belongs in the pile here. Batteries ... they must be discarded here! Used oil is a hugely discarded item .. by the totes-full! Oil filters too.

Some of the items brought, I cannot pronounce or spell and do not know what they are. Example: Dicheoroifluoromethane. What’s that?

Some of the list includes: Aerosols, Flammable Solids, Flammable Toxics, Flammable Solids 1325, Pesticides, Toxic Solids, Medicines-Liquids Toxic, Non RCRA Liquid, Flammable Liquids, Paint Related Material, Oil Filters, Lamps - 4 ft, Lamps - 8 ft, Lamps – CFL, Ni-Cad Batteries, Lithium ION Batteries, PCB BALLAST, Antifreeze, FLAM - Solid non friable asbestos, Alkaline Batteries, Acid, Base/Bleach, Ammonia, Toner Cartridges, Lead Acid Batteries, LITHIUM METAL BATTERIES, Sharps, Latex Paint, Electronic Equipment, CPU's, Monitors, Flat screens, FUSEE (Road/Highway), Oxidizing Solids, Organic Peroxide, Mercury, Propane, Butane, etc.

Here is a guide that should simplify the guess work:

WHAT CAN NOT BE ACCEPTED PLEASE:

• HHW and E-Waste from businesses

• Explosives, ammunition and radioactive materials

• Trash and tires

• Large appliances (refrigerators, stoves, washing machines)

• Mattresses and box springs

• Furniture

Know Your HHW/E-Waste:

• Household hazardous waste is any product labeled toxic, poisonous, corrosive, flammable, combustible or irritant.

• Electronic Waste is any electronic device such as a TV, cell phone, electronic game, microwave, computer and a small household appliance. If it has a cord and a plus, it's E-Waste!

Looking forward to another H.U.G.E. collection again this year.

Thanks to everyone who has been patiently waiting for this news.
