Lake Los Angeles – Twin Lakes Community Church Multi-Purpose Room – On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Vladimir Gomez and Lorena S Parrales with Helping Hands led an exploratory meeting regarding the proposed Lake Los Angeles Community Learning Center.

Twelve LLA residents attended while 130 watched online, 90 English speaking and 30 Spanish speaking. Gomez spoke in both English and Spanish.

Everyone agreed on two things: 1) Not everyone is college bound. 2) We have a community of children needing vocational training in the trades and business fields.

The world and Lake LA needs plumbers, welders, carpenters, electricians, auto repair personnel, landscapers, cement workers plus food and beverages, travel and tourism, property management, paralegal and more in the wide vocational arena, just to name a few. Some can lead to certification, associate degrees and other diplomas.

Hands-on job-specific instruction is needed to save our children and their social, career and financial future. This will steer them building stable lives.

Vocational education not only benefits individual students but also strengthens the community as a whole by creating a capable and skilled workforce.

There is an obvious need for some very basic skills to be taught such as simple math, reading and penmanship.

The huge elephant is where a new or already built building, a location for each field, equipped with instructors, funding and if you know of a billionaire who will fall in love with us, send him/her to Vladimir please.

• Help us

• Support us

• County, State and Federal join us

The one and only way this will succeed is working together, collaborating together, sharing together and leaving egos in the trashcan outside the door.

To start with plenty of information and community involvement and consideration please take part in the surveys, in English and Spanish.

One advantage of vocational school to be considered is there is no crippling student debt after graduation or completion.

Please take part in the survey and watch for the next community meeting to be called.
