Free disposal day Aug. 17 in Littlerock and Aug. 24 in Lake LA
Lake Los Angeles, Ca- Free disposal events are scheduled in August at Los Angeles County Public Works road yards in Littlerock and Lake Los Angeles for unincorporated county residents.
Saturday, Aug. 17 at the county road yard at 8505 East Ave. T in Littlerock, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at the county road yard at 17341 East Ave. J in Lake Los Angeles.
Residents of unincorporated areas can dispose of green waste, trash and bulky items like furniture. The events will not accept electronics, business waste, hazardous materials like used motor oil and paint, tires and demolition debris.
THESE EVENTS ARE ONLY FOR RESIDENTS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY UNINCORPORATED AREAS. The events are not open to residents who live inside the city limits of Lancaster and Palmdale, or who live in Kern County.
These disposal events, plus similar events in May and June in Quartz Hill, Littlerock and Lake Los Angeles, are part of a pilot program sponsored by the Antelope Valley Illegal Dumping Task Force, Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger. The events are aimed at making it easier and cheaper for residents of rural communities to dispose of trash. The events are being tried to see how they work and how much they cost – because the county must pay to dispose of all the material that is brought in. The first two events convinced county officials to bring more disposal bins to each event. They hope to have more events after these.
