Flood Watch in effect for Antelope Valley
Palmdale, Ca.-National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Antelope Valley-Los Angeles County from August 20, 4:00 PM PDT, until August 21, 11:00 PM PDT.
HURRICANE HILARY EXPECTED TO BRING HEAVY RAIN TO L.A. COUNTY THIS SUNDAY
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Orange and San Diego counties and for Catalina Island. According to the NHC, this is the first time the agency has issued a watch for this region. The National Weather Service also expanded the watch inland to cover cities such as Riverside, Palm Springs, San Bernardino, Victorville and Pine Valley.
The National Weather Service is warning that a storm brewing off Mexico’s Pacific coast could potentially bring significant rain, rough surf, and dangerous winds to L.A. County beginning late this Sunday through Monday. Some areas could see up to five inches of rain. DPSS urges residents to take precaution and stay updated by signing up for emergency alerts at ready.lacounty.gov and following the department on social media @ReadyLACounty.
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. From Sunday afternoon through Monday evening. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS.. - Periods of heavy rain associated with Hilary are expected later Sunday into Monday.
