#FightFentanylAV Youth Multimedia Challenge Winners Announced

Palmdale — The City, in partnership with numerous community stakeholders through the #FightFentanylAV Campaign, is spreading awareness about the fentanyl epidemic plaguing our community and nation. The campaign hopes to provide essential information to prevent the illicit use of and overdose deaths from fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid prescribed for pain but also made and sold illegally.

As part of the #FightFentanlyAV campaign, Antelope Valley middle and high school students were invited to participate in the YouthMultimedia Fentanyl Awareness Challenge. Students submittedentries in art, poetry, and video public service announcements to win a monetary scholarship.

The following awards were presented on Tuesday, May 9, during National Fentanyl Awareness Day, at the Palmdale Learning Plaza, 38043 Division St.

High School Poetry – Lori C., Options for Youth ($200 award)

Middle School Art – Melody S., Palmdale Learning Plaza ($200 award)

Middle School Video – Aiden D., Joe Walker Middle School ($400 award)
