December 2022 at our Library


Lake Los Angeles – The activities at our LLA Library are a little more in December as the County Library system moves out of the Pandemic and into a more traditional schedule. Attendance is limited and advanced registration is required.

For children there is the popular Smarty Pants Storytime on Tuesdays November 29, December 6 and December 13. The reading, singing, rhyming and movement starts at 11:00am for 30 minutes. These Storytimes are designed to help children learn school readiness skills while having fun. The ages are 2 to 5 years old accompanied by a parent or caregiver. A program called Memory Frames is scheduled for Wednesday, December 7 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. Do you have a special memory or a quirky moment to remember? Think through some of your memories from the past few months then decorate a frame to hold that memory through a photo, an object or perhaps your original drawing. Then frame it for yourself or as a gift. This program is for ages 5 years to 12 years old with a parent or caregiver. Please register 1 week before each program. For Teens a fun activity called Pop-Up Cards will be offered on Wednesday, December 14 starting at 4:00pm through 5:00pm. The program is described as “Use folded pictures and carefully cut paper to design images that pop out from the page. This program is for teens ages 13 to 17 years old. Calligraphy: Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing. It is the design and execution of lettering with a pen, ink brush, or other writing instrument. Contemporary calligraphic practice can be defined as "the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious, and skillful manner". However defined, it is a skill you will want to develop. For everyone, a special Noon Year’s Eve with Baila Baila is scheduled for Wednesday, December 18 starting at 12:00 noon. Quote from the December Library bulletin: “You will learn about New Year’s traditions and decorate a keepsake/goal box that will be filled with affirmations and memories the whole year. We will jumpstart 2023 with a musical performance by Baila Baila after a countdown. Join us for dancing and a rocking good time. For ages 2-10 with a parent or care giver, but fun for the whole family.” Please register 1 week before each program. The holiday hours at the Library are closed at 5:00pm on Saturday, December 24 and closed Monday, December 26.
