Lancaster, CA — Cynthia Hernandez, longtime Lancaster resident, business leader, and public servant, has officially announced her candidacy for Lancaster City Council in the April 14th 2026 election.

Hernandez has served the Antelope Valley community for nearly two decades as Founder and CEO of Family Tax Inc., a multi-generational tax and accounting firm serving thousands of local families and small businesses. Through her leadership, she has created jobs, mentored young professionals, and helped families build financial stability.

In addition to her business leadership, Hernandez currently serves as:

      •     Antelope Valley Union High School District Board Trustee

      •     City of Lancaster Planning Commissioner

      •     City of Lancaster Criminal Justice Commissioner

      •     AV Fair Board Member

“My life’s work has centered on strengthening families, supporting small businesses, and improving opportunities for our youth,” Hernandez stated. “Lancaster deserves leadership that understands economic growth, public safety, education, and responsible development — not just in theory, but through lived experience and hands-on service.”

Her campaign will focus on:

      •     Public Safety and Safe Schools

      •     Local Economic Growth and Small Business Support

      •     Responsible Housing and Smart Development

      •     Youth Opportunity and Workforce Readiness

      •     Community Beautification and Civic Pride

As a daughter of immigrant parents and a product of public education, Hernandez understands firsthand the importance of opportunity, accountability, and community values.

“I am running because I believe Lancaster’s future must be family-centered, opportunity-driven, and rooted in service. I am ready to continue the work and deliver results for our city.”
