students and community react to potential Keppel Academy school closure within KUSD restructuring.

Superintendent Priya from the Keppel School District announced the plans to reconfigure the district. The forum was held at the Keppel Academy School Wednesday afternoon.

Superintendent Priya presented the plans are meant to streamline in the face of declining enrollment.

The proposed plans were presented to the community. The community had time to provide and give their inputs on the proposed plan. Emotions from parents and students were expressed.

Students will be assigned a school based on where they lived.

During the restructured of KUSD, the Keppel Academy is not going to be empty. With the new plans, Keppel Academy will be the new location for the District Office.

April 10, 2024 - 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Keppel Academy

April 11, 2024 - 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. - Alpine

April 12, 2024 - 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. - Pearblossom

April 15, 2024 - 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. - Gibson

Superintendent will gather the comments from the community of the proposed plans which will save the district $10 million dollars. With declining enrollment every year, those numbers will be rising.

At this moment there are no plans when the board will take action on the proposed plans. As of now Superintendent is getting the input from the community , and take it back to the board.
