City of Palmdale – Warming Centers Available for Residents Affected by Public Safety Power Shutoffs and Cold Weather

PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is aware that some residents are still without power due to recent outages and cold temperatures. To ensure everyone’s safety, the City has opened several facilities for those in need of warmth, including individuals affected by the Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS).Victory Outreach, located at 37419 25th St. East, will operate as a warming center all day from Tuesday, Jan. 14, through Thursday, Jan. 16. Beginning Thursday, Jan. 16, through Tuesday, Jan. 21, the warming center will only be open nightly from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Transportation assistance to Victory Outreach is available by calling 661/733-3823.
As winter temperatures in the High Desert can drop significantly overnight, residents are urged to take precautions to avoid exposure to hazardous wind chill conditions. Extended exposure to the cold can lead to hypothermia, a condition where the body loses heat more quickly than it can generate it.
